What if I can’t explain what I do in a sentence?

Most business owners can't, and it isn't a sign anything's wrong with the business. You know it too well: every detail matters to you, so nothing gets left out. Finding that sentence is our job. We ask the questions your customers would ask, listen to how you answer them out loud, and write it down in those words. It's usually hiding in the way you already talk about your work.

Do you run ads or do SEO?

Not as part of the packages. Your site is built to be found, and the weekly report shows you whether it is. If you want Google Ads or ongoing SEO on top, we can take it on as a separate job, done by a specialist we trust, and you still deal only with us. You'll know the cost before anything starts. What nobody can honestly promise is a ranking or a number of leads, so we won't.

Can I take payments online?

Yes, but taking card payments is a different build with different running costs, so it's quoted separately rather than added on. Tell us early and we'll price it before anything starts. Do you take the photos?

We can. Real photos of your business beat stock every time. If you have good ones, we use them. If you don't, we can arrange a local photographer as a separate job, and you'll know the cost before anything starts. It's the best money you'll spend on your site.

Do you design logos?

Accepted Answer

Yes, as a separate job. We build every site around the logo, colours and fonts you already have, and make them look their best. If you don't have a logo, or yours needs redrawing, we can have one designed by a designer we trust. You still deal only with us, and you'll know the cost before anything starts.

Which pages do I get?

Accepted Answer

A homepage, an About page, a Contact page, and a page each for up to two things you sell. On top of those, every site gets a blog and an FAQ, with the first two of each written for you, plus a privacy page. Need more? Each extra page has a fixed price, shown on the package pages, so you know the cost before we start. Pages that do something special, like bookings or a calculator, are quoted separately.

What do you need from me?

Photos of your actual business, your prices, and an hour or two answering questions only you can answer. That's the part that decides whether the build takes four weeks or six. We can write around a gap, but a site full of writing-around reads like one.

How does a build go?

It happens in steps, and each step starts on your go-ahead. That's why we talk in weeks, not dates. A 15-minute call. Free, and no pitch. You tell us what your business does and who buys from you; we tell you how we work. If we're not the right fit, you'll hear it then. Discovery. About an hour, sometimes two, recorded with your permission. We ask the questions your customers would ask: what you do, who you do it for, why they pick you, and what a website that works would mean to you. It's a fixed fee, agreed up front, and if you go ahead with the website, it comes off the build price. Your message, in writing. We turn that conversation into a short document: your business, your customers and your message, in your own words. You correct it until you read it and recognise yourself. It's yours to keep, whatever you decide next. A fixed quote. Built from that document. Anything beyond the standard build, like extra pages, a logo or photography, is listed and priced there, not discovered later. You sign and pay half. Then work starts. The first draft. About two weeks later, on a private copy nobody else can see. You get two rounds of changes, each sent to us as one list, and we make them. Fixes to facts and typos are always free. Anything beyond two rounds, or anything new that wasn't in your document, we price before we do it. Launch. About two weeks after you approve the draft, it goes live, and the second half of the build fee is due. We walk you around your new site. After launch. Your monthly plan starts: updates, backups, small edits, and a plain-English report in your inbox every Monday.

Do you only work with businesses in Louisville?

Louisville is home, and being local means we can sit across a table from you. We work with businesses further afield too. It just happens over a call instead.

What if I already have a website?

Send us the link. Sometimes the right answer is a rebuild; sometimes it's leaving it alone and fixing two things. Often the design isn't the problem at all: the words are. We'll tell you which, and we don't charge for the look.

Do you write the content?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it's the most important part of what we do. Before anything is built, we sit down with you and ask the questions your customers would ask, then write your pages from your answers. You correct them, because you know your business and we don't. We also write your first two blog posts and your first two FAQs. After that it's yours to add to: write them yourself (the training session shows you how), or we write them and price it before we start.

Why not Wix or Squarespace?

For some businesses, a Wix or Squarespace site is the right call, and we'll tell you if we think yours is one of them. The difference is what happens after launch. A template gives you a website, and then you're on your own with it. With us you get the site plus the people who built it: somewhere for your content to grow, search that tells you what people are looking for, and a report every week so you can see whether any of it is working. And you get someone to ask. Should you run ads, and is that quote you were sent any good? Is that new booking tool worth it? Why did traffic drop last month? You'll get a straight answer from someone who knows your site inside out, including when the answer is "don't bother".

Can I update it myself?

Yes, the everyday things. The training session is two hours, one to one, for $249. It covers adding a blog post or a product, updating text and pictures, and reading your weekly report. What you won't get are the keys to the parts that break things: installing plugins, and changing the site's structure or settings. That stays with us, because it's the only way backups, updates and rollbacks can be promised at all. If you'd rather not do any of it, Care includes 30 minutes of small edits a month and On Call includes two hours. You just email us.

How long does it take?

Four to six weeks from start to launch. What decides it is usually how quickly we get the things only you have: photos, prices, and the details about your business we can't invent.

Question 15

Am I tied into a contract?

Accepted Answer

Three months minimum, then month to month. Thirty days' notice, no penalty, no year-long lock-in. If it isn't working for you, we'd rather you left than stayed annoyed.

Question 16

Do I own my website?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The domain is registered in your name, the site is yours, and if you ever leave we hand you a full copy (files and database) plus an hour of help getting it running somewhere else. Nothing is held hostage.
